I have rigged up a fish with a spine head and neck bone and pectoral fins acting like arms ( shoulder bicep forearm) . I a have set up a slider that controls the pitch of the spine using the inherit end expression. The problem is that the fishes arm structure (parented to the spine) pushes out the bottom of the model for the fins when the slider is applied. My question how to fix this?
1 use another expression with slders to help postion the arms/fins using the y and z axis or

puppet master so the bones don't move outward but them comes the FK for the movement or can it be set up to do so?

or any other suggestions anyone might have?

I hope this makes sense.

thanks
Greg

I'm not completely sure whether I understood you properly, but it seems that your problem is the deformation of the bottom of the fish when the pectoral fins move. So I would recommend that you place some hold bones (that are parented to the spine) at the bottom of the fish to counterbalance the influence of the fin bones.
Maybe it would help if you could post a screen shot of the model and the rig you have so far.

Don't know if you know but there is a fantastic rig of a fish that ships (no pun intended) with messiah. Clown fish....take a look, it really is quite a rig.

As well as the whale rig ... you could spend weeks trying to reverse engineer these nice setups :)
