Janimation is currently seeking an Apprentice Technical Director who floats between commercials, game trailers and film projects and provides support wherever needed throughout the production pipeline, whether in 2D or 3D.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provides support of tools and procedures, which extend and enhance the production pipeline

· Assists animators and artists with troubleshooting of shots and problems. Issues may include problems with: fur, clothing, particle effects, animation, and rendering

· Supports and works with multiple departments including: Animation, Lighting, FX, and R&D

· Follows software development studio policies and guidelines

· Works closely with Senior Technical Director and VFX Supervisors to maintain and further a world-class production pipeline

· Be mentored and trained by other Creative/Technical Directors


Candidate Requirements:

· At least one year of prior production experience, preferably as an artist who produces quota

· Experience with Maya or XSI (XSI is a plus!)

· Ability to establish priorities, work independently or within a group, and proceed with objectives without supervision

· Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems fast and efficiently

· Ability to program in two programming languages. Python and/or JScript are plus (Mel, VbScripting, Perl and C++ are accepted)

· Ability and willingness to utilize pre-established libraries and modules for code consistency

· Previous character rigging experience is a plus

· ”Customer First” mentality

· Patience and willingness to provide direct support to individuals

Education/Experience Requirement:

· 1+ years related experience


Janimation is located in Dallas, TX and is a small, but rapidly growing, company with 15-25 employees. Additional information is available upon request. Salary is negotiable based on experience.
