I am attempting to merge some .3ds files made in a CAD program. They all come in with many triangles which are difficult to deal with when subdividing etc. How can I get a better result - all quads would be nice. Thanks, Mud

.3ds file format only supports tris, so you might try exporting in a different format, like .obj, if possible. Also, some .dxf exporters support quads, so that might be worth a shot. In the alternative, try Structure-->Untriangulate in Cinema.

Thank you..... previously tried untriangulate.....takes off about 10 percent of the triangles but the remaining previously flat surfaces remain a bit creased and difficult. Going to try. dxf and thanks for the suggestion. To get .obj I'd have to take it to Rhino then to C4D....seems a bother but I'll even give that a try. Mud
