View Full Version : Mirror bones problem
MLMckenzie 07-10-2005, 05:12 AM I am using Studio Pro V2.2 and I recently purchased Joe Cosman's excellent rigging CD, everything was going pretty good til I got to the point of mirroring the right leg bones. In the setup tab the mirror command seems to work but when I switch to any other tab, the bones aren't mirrored they just seem to be offeset. Has anyone else come accross this?
Also on the CD it talks about a "rename block" where I can search and replace object names. Where is this in the latest version of Studio Professional?
Any help would be appreciated, I was making some good progress and now I'm dead in the water.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

- Don't use mirroring anywhere but in Setup when you are rigging.
- Sometimes messiah doesn't get things right - most of the time the solution is going to the animate tab and "reset" each and every part of the mirrored bones hierarchy until things are straight again. Normally this is automatic but well ... :hmm:
- Rename is now found under Setup->Items Dropdown-> Rename Items.

Thomas,
Thanks for the response, but resetting didn't seem to help. If anyone with the CD would like to take a look at the file I would appreciate it.

Joe uses Animate 3.3 for the rigging CD1 tutorials. They are still very helpfull, and only now and then are you hunting around for a moved menu item or setting.
I was able to get past my mirror bones problem. I'm not 100% sure what caused it, but I noticed that the mirroring created an extra ankle attach bone, so I deleted those. Also you have to be carefull in naming your bones when you go to rename them with the find an replace. So I am done with that rig and am now moving on to the face rig.
I highly recommend the CD!
