View Full Version : Out to Tape ?
cero1 07-09-2005, 02:36 PM I have completed an hour long Urban Video show that I will be editing, now my problem is outputting to tape. I have no idea on how to go about doing this.
In the export dropdown the output to tape option is in gray. i thought that i would be able to just plug my RCA A/V cables to the VCR and play the timeline and hit REC on the VCR and it would do what it needed to do.
Can someone that has done this help me out ?

your export to tape is greyed out because you have no firewire connection to your computer.
you don't have to use the export command if you are recording to a composite video deck. the same RCA jacks that let you view to an external monitor are the same jacks you hook-up to your VCR input. you can then hook-up RCA jacks from your VCR ouput to your monitor so you can see what you are recording.
just simply hit rec on your VCR and the Spacebar on your computer to play out.
note: make sure all your renders are finalized. unlike export which checks you timeline for unrendered sections and finalizes them. a manual recording won't do that so you might have low res videos in sections that weren't rendered.
hope this help and good luck.

Thankz for taking out the time to answer my question. I tried what you specified and for some reason It didn't work. I finally exported to my Mini Dv Camera and then from the Mini Dvto the Tape.
Now the thing that is confusing me is, that if i could Rec from my Mini Dv to VHS, I should be able to Rec from the VHS on to the MiniDV. I have a bunch of music Videos on VHS that I need on the Mini Dv yet when I reverse the process i get nothing on the Mini DV. any ideas ?

sorry it didn't pan out.
as for your miniDV, what are you using? is it a DVdeck or a DVcamera? and what brand?
