hello everybody,

this is my first attempt of creating a UV-map for the head of a model i made in maya ... everything works fine, but when trying to sew the UVs in the texture editor it simply does not happen ! :shrug:

i selected the borderedges like to be seen in the image, when doing 'polygons ->sew uvs' the command-line reads :'Result: polyMapSew1', which doesn't look like an error to me, but the shells don't get connected !

here's what i did so far:

1. delete UVs (to get clean plate)
2. selected front polys
3. edit polygons -> texture -> planar mapping (mapping direction camera)
4. step 1-3 for profile polys
5. selecting border edges of both shells in the texture editor
6. polygons -> sew UVs

what am i doin' wrong !? any ideas ?

how did you select the edges? It works fine for me...i just go into component mode and select the edges by hand......and choose "sew and move Uvs"

please note....that if u select 1 border edge...maya selects the corresponding edge of the seam automatically....so just select the border edges of one

so i have to perform this selection in the viewport !? :hmm:
i thought it has to be done in the UV-texture-editor ...

thanks, i'll try it again ... :thumbsup:

now i solved it ! :bounce:

the shells i was trying to sew together weren't part of the same geometry ... i had 'extracted' them from the main surface before !

anyway, thanks a lot ! :thumbsup:
