View Full Version : Saving custom brush variant
delunchen 07-09-2005, 05:39 AM Recently i made some brushes by selecting the copy variant -> save in my chen folder -> then start customising.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v119/delun/test1.jpg
When im done, i tried looking for the xml file in the brush folder->chen catagory. I cant find
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v119/delun/test2.jpgthem.
I 'll then try launching painter and copy some variants into other brush catagory, then i went back to the brush folder to check. They are not there.
Anyone know what happened?

Yes i did read through the help topics and all relating to brush library.
From what i have read, by right they are located in the folder of the brush catagory when i save the new created brush. Or i can do the same by selecting it in the brush tracker and save it.
I tried but unfortunately, it did not work.
I tried saving a brush and name it "test" in painter and try to locate it in the painter brushes brush catagory's folder, they are not found.
From the help topic, it doesnt seem to be normal

green_leaf,
Are you looking in the Application/Program Folder....
Painter IX > Brushes > Painter Brushes > [your brush category folder]
... or in the User Folder...
Corel > Painter IX > Brushes > Painter Brushes > [your brush category folder]
??
Read the section of Help > Help Topics I referred you to again to learn where user preferences and other custom items are stored.

green_leaf,
Please read the Painter IX Help > Help topics information I referred you to earlier, maybe in your other thread. There you will learn where your custom preferences and custom files are stored.
Thanks,

thanks for the paitence jin
I think i managed to locate the brushes variants in the user>application data
Seems like it is not accessible but clicking, but rather need to be typed in manually or else the folder will never show up.
Thanx again, my problems are solved now.

green_leaf,
It's been so long I'd forgotten that I had to set the Documents and Settings folder to show hidden files and folders.
I'm a WinXP Home user and here's how I did it:
• In Windows Explorer (file manager), I highlighted the Documents and Settings folder.
• At the top of the screen, I opened the Tools menu and chose Folder Options.
• In the Folder Options dialog box, I clicked the View tab.
• In the Advanced Settings window, below "Hidden files and folders", I checked the "Show hiddden files and folders" radio button, then clicked the OK button to close the dialog box.
I don't know how this is done on a Mac (or if it even needs to be done on a Mac) in case you're not a Windows user (but it sounds like you are).
Good luck!

Oh i see thanx.
Yes im a window xp user, but seems like i did not realise that there is the show hidden folder feature.
Because i read the help topic and it say to look for them in the application data folder which is hidden, so i did not find it.
Now that i found it all my problem is solved.
Thanx again.
