View Full Version : IK/FK switch, single chain approach
ryusen 07-08-2005, 10:34 PM I've always had problems doing a seamless IK/FK switch using 3 chain approach so I try to do something different.
Attach is a preview on a single chain IK/FK switch possible with maxscript. What I did in the script was only to turn on and off the "enabled" button and activate fksnap and iksnap during FK and IK respectively.
I'm posting this to know if someone can point out anything weird in the animation test.

Can you post the max file also? It would be much easier to judge the effectiveness of this approach if we could play with the setup ourselves.

attached is the script only.. the setup is easy just like any regular ik.. for instance, 3 bone chain, 1 upperarm, 1 forearm, and 1 endbone.. create the ik, link the ik to a controller, and add a shape as the swivel angle controller.. (i guess everyone knows about that already)
the listbox is just to find out if the selected objects are what i want.. it will list the ik, startjoint, startjoint child, ik parent, and swivel angle controll..
since this is the first script i've ever written, it still has a lot to work on.. but i guess the concept is there..
i'm hoping someone can help me to make this script an animatable modifier -- if it's possible of course..
thanks jay..
