View Full Version : Viewport Control Like Luxology's Modo
Tughan 07-08-2005, 01:48 AM Hi,
What I'm going to ask is simple; Is there a way to create a UI to control Viewport Rotation or Pan like Luxology's Modo?
It seems a very simple job, but I don't know if there is a script out there that allows you to hold a button with left mouse button and rotate viewport. It would be very very cool to have an interface like that in 3dsmax. Wouldn't it?

Umm, maybe I'm totally misunderstanding you, but did you know you can hold down the middle mouse button for pan/rotation? If you press the middle mouse button and hold it while moving the mouse it will pan the viewport and if you hold down ALT middle mouse btn it will rotate the view...

Yeah man, I know about the Middle Mouse Button + ALT rotation. What I wanted is an on-screen control like Modo, or Bryce...

...or Lightwave, where Modo sort of came from.
Why is an onscreen control easier to use than an omnipresent keyboard shortcut?
Anyway, technically speaking it might be possible to script, but most Max users would not understand why you would like to clutter the viewport with something that is already at you fingertips, and why would you like to move the mouse away from the modeling area just to rotate or pan a viewport...

Well... I've some reasons my friend. :) Let's say I've broken my keyboard, or my arm. Or my keyboard keys are stolen. :D
(btw I sent you an e-mail about the real reason(your pm inbox was full!))
