View Full Version : How much can you animate in Messiah?
^Abe^ 07-07-2005, 07:09 AM Is it possible to animate things like cloth, wind, rain, water, hair etc. in Messiah or is it best to aim to do that in another app.
Thanks.

I'm not the most fit to answer this question as I'm still in the learning stages of Messiah but I'm going to take a stab at it anyway. You can animate cloth in Messiah (there's examples floating around this forum), there are particles so rain and water are doable but might be best in your compositing program like Shake or After Effects. There's no hair simulation like you would find in XSI Advanced or plugins for various other packages but you can use the cloth techniques and make alpha maps and hair texture maps and do something that way if you don't need it strand by strand...experts please reply and correct me if I am wrong in any way.

Yes, you can do cloth http://www.fallen-art.com/
but its a struglle;)
You can do hair using cloth and alphas as mentioned before.
MInd that Messiah is a character animation software, not the effects powerhouse.
I have managed to do Mud, particles and the blood squirts (with soft bodies - you can see it in SinCity - Big fat Kill) in Messiah.
But probabbly, you can get those easier in other apps.

grzesiekj :)
Last month I saw "Fallen Art" film at Annecy Film Animation Festival in France.
It looked fantastic on the big screen and I was excited to know that you worked on it.
It is a great film with great photography, story and animation
Congratulations
