View Full Version : Another dumb question?
MArll 07-07-2005, 01:48 AM say for eample i am doing some bevelling on a face. then i decide that i would like to select another face foe bevelling. Is there a way i can make a selection but NOT have to drop the tool every time?
i hope this question makes some sense. i just find that hitting space bar, then selecting, then selecting the tool, then applying the tool is a bit long winded and maybe there is a method of working that is not so irksome
thanks

First of all, you should try a search on this forum and the Modo forum to see if this question has answered before. This particular topic has been covered, in various ways, in both places (not trying to be mean, just trying to save you time :) ).
You do not have to use the SPACEBAR to drop a tool, especially if you want to use the same tool on a new selection. You can simply press and hold down the shortcut key for the tool you want to use and make your selection (while keeping the key pressed down). While the key is pressed down the tool is dropped and when you release the key the tool is picked back up again.
For example, let's say you have a face selected and want to move it. You can press the "W" key to activate move. After moving the face you decide you want to move a different face. Simply press and hold "W" again and, while holding "W" down make your new selection. Once you are ready to move you release the "W" key and you are back in move mode and can move your new selection.
Also, if you simply want to switch from one tool to another (for example, from "move" to "bevel") then you do not have to drop the "move" tool first. You can simply press the next hotkey to automatically drop the current tool and select the next. The same thing happens if you click the icons.
I hope this helps.
