View Full Version : Help... Convert NURBS to polygons makes computer crash

Hi all,

I'm using Maya 6.5 under MacOS X 10.4.1,

And whenever I want to convert NURBS to polygons with 'attach multiple output meshes' Maya crashes. After deleting EVERYTHING but two objects in the entire scene, maya still crahsed. Even deleting history of all things didn;t help. Now I am truly desperate.... Because No polygons = no texturing... :cry:

See attachment for the WRETCHED object. The open wing attaches partially to the base of the wing, which forms a closed loop.

turn off attach multiple output meshes then. you're better off just combining and merging yourself anyway.. although I have no idea why it would crash... does it crash on even two simple objects in a new scene?

Attempting this with 2 square polygons worked just fine... I still think it has something to do with trying to merge an object to a PART of an edgeloop. I'll do another simplified experiment with this.

Alright, I've done an experiment.

Attachment 1: This is a closed surface that forms the bucket of a 'basket' + 2 paralel open surfaces that form the handle.

Converting to polygons will mean attaching partially to the side of an edge loop as with my wings.

Attachment 2: Succes, the basket is now made of polygons and automatically attached. Maya did not crash.

My wing STILL makes Maya crash.
