View Full Version : PA Challenge - Character - mastering3d
mastering3d 02-19-2002, 10:14 AM OK I no it’s a bit late but I wanted to get in on all the fun too.
I did see this challenge about a week ago and just started this model. I did not post
Until now I just wanted to get on so that I add some thing to show you all.
So I hope that I am not too late to catch you all up. I can see that a lot off you
Are modelling likes mad and there is some amazing work coming out off you all.
I just hope that my modelling is as good as what I see here. This gives me jsut what I need right now to work harder on my modelling and get better at it, at the same time. So I hope that you like what you see here if not well you what you can do only joking. I am working more on keeping my edge looping so that the model will look nice in wire frame to. There is still a lot off work to be done like add rope or what ever for the bedding ,Put some thing to holed the cup up, And put a lot more stuff comeing out off the back pack. And when it is all done I will rig it up and animate him.

some crits:
the forearms look kinda weird, try to thicken them some and take away the square'ish look.
what's that in his butt on the backViewRender? :)
some details on the belt would be nice to.
well I ain't gonna say to much as it isn't finished. overall, really great guy and I'm really looking forward to the updates, and maybe a GI render? :)

looks pretty cool so far, My main suggestion would be to randomize the edges of the rolled up "bed" on his backside (it looks too perfectly rolled). Also, your pant legs and arms are wrinkled, but the torso and pelvis region aren't, fixing that would probably help also. Theres still a whole week to work so you'll be good on catch-up time

OK its getting to the end. I wise that I add more time to put in to this and get it done for this challenge ,But I can not see that,I have to much modeling to do for work.So here is an up date so far.New Boots and some creasing around the arms at the top near the shoulders and other places. And a rifle but no straps as yet and it still is not 100% done,Plus straps around the arms and leg but no creasing around the straps as yet..Still if I dont get it done before the end it's been fun any how and I love doing it.And I have loved looking at your art work great stuff on this great forum.

Hi, nice model you got there. I noticed your gun is smooth and am just wondering did you do it in mesh then meshSmooth or did you do it in NURBS?

Thanks glad that you like my work,Nice to see that some one does.
Tha rifle is made just from polys in max 4,Started out with a box and worked on from there useing meshtools could never work with out that it is a great time saver. The main body is all one part as you can see from the image it all so as the other bits too.And just set it up to render out to meshsmooth set to 1 on all the parts..Here a bit off an up date not to sure about the eye bit if it is right really have to look in to it as the rifle that I am modeling from dont have sights on it.

nice...i like it;)
ain't this a double barelled rifle? then it needs 2 triggers...normally one on the left and one on the right, they're bit smaller than normals and they're apart from another

Wow, thanx for the mesh post for the guns. Yea, I tried to do my gun with all mesh-edit(instead of polygon edit). Thatz whyI have to put a blur on it. HaHa. All those trangles were too much to turn. Your gun helped me alot on learning how to fix the curves and details (like the two indent in the back of the gun) Once again thanx for the post!
Good luck almost to the finish line!! =)

Looks really good. I love the rifle... EXCEPT... It's better than the guns I've I've been making recently. Jerk. ;)
It does remind me of a G3A3, or something similar. Got many a kill with those in Rogue Spear.
Can't wait to see the final version!
