View Full Version : Problem with Exporting to MAX
SeanJM 07-06-2005, 03:39 PM I experience a problem when exporting my wings mesh to MAX with my UV coordinates that I did in wings. It seems, atleast sofar that the parts of my mesh that have seams in Wings become completely seperate from the mesh when imported into MAX in the .3ds format. And When I export to OBJ it creates 2 sets of tri's where there were t-joints. I was wondering if there is a way to fix it or if someone has experienced this aswell?

Have you tried FBX export/import?

FBX File version 6.0.0.0 is not supported is the error message I see in max.

Either update your FBX plugs for max (they're free), or download the OBJ import/export plugs for max at HABware (http://www.habware.at/ente.htm) and use the OBJ format.
3DS format doesn't support multiple UV coord's per vertex so the mesh must be split @ the UV seams to maintain the desired UV mapping. It's an old format from the pre-max 3D Studio DOS days...IOW, it's time to let go of 3DS. ;)
