View Full Version : What resolution do you use to create the bump map?
erwin1978 10-24-2002, 05:53 AM What resolution do you use to create bump maps? I currently use 2048x2048 and the creases on my head are pixelated. Also, what's the most efficient image compression I should use? I find jpeg produces compression artifacts and it really shows in bump maps.

You shouldn't use compressed files like JPEG's for your texture maps..period. LZW in 24 bit files is lossless so that's okay.
Depenidng on your UV maps the reason why your bump map look pixelate din one area is because it is being stretched too much in that area.
Possible solutions are to create seperate detail maps for those areas.
