i can't find this button on the keyboard in the keyboard mapping window of xsi ..

Open the Keymapping editor and LMB click on the onscreen "\" button. This will auto-highlight the command attached to it... you can then assign it to whatever key you like.
Just checked that it is functional... the "XSI>Add Edge Tool \(Backslash)" entry is selected.
i can't find this button on the keyboard in the keyboard mapping window of xsi ..
Haha, took me a while to find it too, but in my window it's just above the Enter key.

hi guys.
thanks, but i'm not talking of the "\(BackSlash)" key but of the "\" key.
if you look in the standard xsi keymap the "\" key is mapped to the add edge tool while the "\(BackSlash)" key is mapped to the slice polygons tool by default.
the strange thing is that every button gets highlighted red as soon as i select the command in the command menu ... except for the add edge tool. there seems to be no button for it!?
is there maybe a way to change keyboard shortcuts outside of xsi or via a script?

I haven't altered the standard XSI keymap and the following applies in my case.
Add Edge Tool = "\"
Slice Polygons Tool = "["
I've got what Daido has...

hmm .. maybe this has something to do with my german keyboard .. anyway, one last question:
if you select the "add edge command" in the command menu, is the appropriate button on the keyboard highlighted red?

hello chrischan
this took me also a while to figure out, itīs the "grad" button, left of the "1", the split edge tool is the "ī" button.
nice greetings from Austria
