Hello
I'm new with 3D and I'm trying to do the "Joan of Arc" tutorial ( http://www.3dtotal.com/ ). It's going pretty well but ofcourse I still have some questions .... How can you make from severall polygons one polygon? Weld doesn't work. And how does "weld target" works, when I try to weld vertices by using "target" it seems nothing happens.

Thanks alot

I haven't seen the tutorial...

but if you have your model as a editable poly... then you can select a segment and remove it. That will combine polys....

the target weld i use when welding verts... you must select and move the vert (i use the snap mode) and snap it to another vert then it will weld itself...

What version of max?

To make one poly from a couple (in max 4) just select the edge you want to remove and hit delete. (in max 5) select the edge and click remove edge in the command panel.

To weld target, just click weld target in the command panel and select the first vertex, then click the second. The first one is welded to the second... and in it's position.

Hope that helps

I'm using Max 4

The model is an editable Mesh. This is what it says in the tutorail itself >>> While preparing for modeling of arm, simplify the for faces into one polygons (Weld Target). <<< (but weld target is not working, it's light grey)
When I delete an edge it will not change to a single polygon all that remains is a big hole. So I changed my model to a editable poly then it worked after that I changed it again to an editable mesh. Is that stupid or unnecessary to do that.

What is the difference between an editable mesh and poly?
