View Full Version : LW to modo help needed...
coffeefery 07-05-2005, 04:30 AM Hi, I'm from a Lightwave background trying to familiarize with modo tools. Currently, it's been a great modeling software and I am really liking it. There are a few questions that I needed help on:
1. How can I split an edge? I tried using 'c', which is slice, but it doesn't seem to work.
2. After setting up my key editor, is it possible to save my key configuration so that I can bring it to another computer and load it up? Also, how can I revert the key editor to its default after making changes to it?
I've only started dabbling into modo, so these are the 2 questions that I couldn't find an answer to, and any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure as time goes by, I will be posting more questions (but with a better knowledge of the modo toolset) :D

everytime you close modo, modo saves the settings, the setting should be under
" C:\Documents and Settings\" USER NAME "\Application Data\Luxology "
called modo.cfg
if you want default settings, you can erase modo.cfg so modo can start a fresh one next time you start it

Thanks for the info, kursad :) Going to try it right after this.
1. How can I split an edge? I tried using 'c', which is slice, but it doesn't seem to work.
It works, just deselect the split polygon option.

Hi PaQ. I can't seem to make it work still :(
Say I make a primitive box. I select and edge, and pressing 'c', I am able to cut the edge, thus adding a vertex in the middle of that edge? Or am I doing it the wrong way with the slice tool?

I just saw another thread and it shows how he added the vertex on the edge. I was wrong to think it was a slicing tool (more like an adding vertex tool) on the edge the way I use shift +c. All is well now :P
Thanks for the help, guys.

Once you get the hang of splitting edges in modo, you'll never go back to the old ways of your former software.
