There are pdf files and video content if you download the documentation but I don't know if that's for registered users only or if it's available for demo user also. If you've bought modo there are two downloads in your account page, the installation file itself then the documentation installer. The pdf's are a great help and you can't go wrong with video tutorials explaining all the tools! :)

I believe the boxed edition comes with physical manuals, but I prefer the PDF manuals because they can be updated when the software is updated. You can print them out. I just printed out the ZBrush2 manual today (all 504 pages!). In draft mode, on my Canon printer (printing in duplex mode), it only took a little over an hour and did not use that much ink.

When I bought the educational version I was able to dl the 300MB+ .pdf manual but I bought the manual for $50 through a special deal with Luxology. The paper manual is 500 pages and well worth the price however it's all in b&w unlike the .pdf version.

The .pdf manual should be in your modo directory. It comes with the demo as far as I remember.
Cheers.

Even demo users have access to the documentation/videos downloads in their account.
I haven't had a need for it yet.
The great community, well documented pdf and videos and tutorials available(and even more coming soon) are more than enough IMO.
Prolific Lightwave god Daniel Ablan is writing a book about Modo,or so the rumours say, keep an eye on that. :)

Not only are there pdf files in the help directory, but there are video clips in there as well which demonstrate how the tools work. However, that may be a part of the 300mb help file I downloaded. That was such a cool idea! However, I think I downloaded this from the modo web site. I took the time to print out the pdf file for Tutorial on Basic modeling. This is a great primer for modeling in Modo. Also, if you go to this website, you will get a lot of video text tutorials at this site. There's also alot of plugins there as well.

I am using the demo version right now as well. Even though I consider myself in the basic stages of modeling and learning this program, I must say that despite my initial skepticism, I'm blown away by this program! I have decided that after looking at three modeling programs, I'm completely sold on Modo. The other two programs were very nice and easy to model in as well. But, I had a set of requirements that only Modo seemed to fulfil. (Besides, I don't believe in posting negative comments about other programs as those comments put down people who chose those other programs)
I can't believe the wealth of quicktime video tutorials on the internet! I'm so excited, I've already made myself a cd containing all of the tutorials I've downloaded! I can't believe the models I'm making through the tutorials and the speed with which I'm creating them! This program definately models the way in which I think. I can't wait to become more proficient in this program.(to my satisfaction!) At this point, I have already decided to purchase this program have reserved a spot for this purchase on my credit card.
But, if you're a newbie like me, use the demo to really learn the program by going through the tutorials in the users guide and the tutorials in the Tutorial on Basic modeling, and take advantage of as many video tutorials as you can. Go to every website that you can that have tutorials about Modo. I really can't believe how much I've learned already. Just a fantastic program! I wish you the best in learning this program. If you decide that this program is not for you, then the best of luck in using whatever program you decide to model with. I'm sure that you will have success in whatever program you choose as your modeling program. However, if you choose Modo, then welcome to the club!
Regards!
