View Full Version : Character Critique: Tribe's Man

this is Maru, my first low poly character (4500 polys).
It's also the first time I've textured something using UVW unwrap, then painting it in photoshop. But I'm more interested on feedback and tips to do with the modelling at the moment.

No feedback on that one?
what about this one: Cholito the Chinchilla (around 5000)
I worked on him straight after Maru. They were for the same project at university.

First one is really cool. I love style like this one. Little comic and cartoon. Texture is so damn cool, and model ... could be bit optimized, especially on face, butalso is hard to say which polies are usefull and which useless. Anyway good job with this one.
Second ... mesh is good, nice using, but hands also could have less polies that have at the moment. I like the texture ... very cool. But face seems to be a bit flat. You could also add mouse "moustache" on alpha, more detail ... And I think the character could be more interesting when he will hang some umbrella.
Anyway good piece of work.
To add the crit I think the mouse eyes look a little angry it is because of the upper eye lid it is a bit straight if was rounder to the top it would make it looks more friendly.

the style on that tribesman is really cool. but the face looks like it could stand a little bit of optimization.
the mouse is pretty nice too, but the hands kinda bug me..dunno why.
do an environment for that tribesman guy, I think Jak 3 would be nice reference

I like the ideas on these models.
For the tribesman- the cheeks need some fixing. You have the bones defined in the texturing, but the cheeks need to be less fleshy.... (confusing isn't it?). let me try again. He has fat cheeks and they are too defined. Try sucking in the cheeks some.
Chinchilla- can you make the cheeks smoother... its always the cheeks isn't it. The hands look funny because they are so small compared to the arms. can you do a render with the hands a bigger??
I really like the style though.
