View Full Version : Eddie - Somewhere in Time W.I.P
Corprus 07-03-2005, 12:08 PM Hey All,
This is my first post, let alone 3d W.I.P post, so be gentle.
I don't even have an avatar, Newbie Alert!
Anyway, this is an image(well my interpretation anyway) from the art work off the "Somewhere in Time" cd by Iron Maiden.
Originally modelled in Maya, then detailed in zbrush, ported back to Maya as a displacement and rendered in Turtle. I then did a little tweaking in Photoshop.
Crits are welcome.
Enjoy

Let me be the first to welcome you here at CGtalk. Your image looks good for a first post. I have not seen the CD cover, but you can see the Eddie.

Nice nice nice! Eddie rules!
Wasn't his left eye a cyborg eye with a reticle on it? I don't have my cd infront of me, but I think that's key to the illustration.
The model, otherwise, is spot-on! I'd love to see more.

Thanks Geoff and Fried for your responses,
Fried, quick question..... do you work in the industry here in S.A. ?
Geoff....yeah Eddie had a cybernetic eye(his left eye), but i was trying to mimick the cd art itself where the right handside of his face was in the shadows, so you couldn't see it any way.
I'm gonna try for a full model of him, ala the cover, before the end of the week. wish me luck.
Updates Daily.
Here are the Wireframes you requested, unfortunately i could only upload 1 cos of the incredibly bad internet connections we have here in S.A. sorry
Up the Irons!!

Hey Lloyd! Sweet Eddie :D Although the rim thing along the top of his head looks a bit chunky - you should smooth out the geometry there a bit.

You know, the SIT eddie has been something I've wanted to do for some time as well. I'd love to see the whole body model. It's a good exercise for the contrast or soft muscles and rigid frame pieces. Then, the bouncy wires that are all over him. You'd learn all of maya just animating _him_.... keep it up.

That's some awesome work (not only for a first 3D WIP)
I've got some friends who are Iron Maiden fans and who'd be astounded at the accuracy you've achieved.
Like to see some more.
