View Full Version : trimmed can
bloddy_newbee 10-23-2002, 04:01 PM I've a problem to connect two lofted curves smoothly.
1. I created a body of a can with nurbs.
2. Then I prjected a curve for the neck on this surface.
3. I trimmed it and lofted the projected curve to a neck.
My problem is, that the crossing of this two items (body can und neck) it not
very smoothly. It looks like two different items, but it had to be one item.
What I've made wrong?

the problem is that the curve of the neck is not tangent to the body.
ony thing that you can do is to duplicate the projected curve two or three times, scale them down, offset from the body surface and make a new loft for the "smooth"region.
maybe it's not the best way to do it, but i cant think in other right now. A Byrail maybe can help too

Trims generally suck so what you you shoul ddo is to use the componentline tool and select all new isoparms across the various surfcaes and then use the duplicate curves menu command. Then rebuild these curves so that they all have the same number of CV's and curve direction. Then loft them into a new surface.
If you get any odd bends in the lofted surface then delete it and make a loft between each curves then use attach to connect each new patch.
