View Full Version : Smoothing Issue

I am having an issue when I smooth the hood of the 350z that I am modeling. All of my polys have 4 sides but when I smooth. It is a linear smooth based in Maya with a subdivision of 2. I get a weird "rounding" out effect. Pictures are below. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the image, you've actually got a few polys with more than 4 sides...:D

Yeah, just because it's a straight line doesnt make it one edge. From one vert to another counts as an edge or "side"

Putting that aside it seems like you have a few spots where 5 poly's would all meet at one vert which could also cause some distortion. It may be better to just have the extra edge loops run around the whole model
