matty please stop with all the info its overwhelming ;)
As far as texturing goes, what do you want to do? setup UV's?
Or do you want to know how to texture items in say photoshop?
either way go to www.3dbuzz.com download section, he has plenty of Free Video tutorials about maya.

UV paint for a face (http://www.kniffen.ca/index.php?target=tutorials/texture/UV1.php)
Thsi is for polys, but it is really in depth and quite helpful.

Thanks for the responses so far guys. I am mainly interested in learning what to do in Photoshop after extracting the UV maps and everything. I'm going to check out those sites now and see what i can find. Thanks again!!!

I'm guessing you could ge tthta look if you map a subtle bump map in PS with a squarish brush and alot of different gradations.

paint a texture in Photoshop with a squareish bursh an dbuild up layers of transparencies or shades of gray. Then apply it as a subtle bump map .1 instead of 1.. y'know what I mean ;-)

Sorry for the late response. The download section is on the left side of screen, in a grey box(you have to register to download I believe).
