View Full Version : Strange Unwrap UVW behaviour!

Hi everyone. I wonder if anyone can help me...

I applied an Unwrap UVW mod to my model. I then select all of the faces, made it into a Planar Map, and clicked Edit... In the Edit UVWs window, my model was displayed in full (like a top-down (or bottom-up) view). I then clicked Mapping > Flatten Mapping... to spread out the mesh. However, while I did get a few 'chunks' of the mesh, it also split the remainder up into hundreds of triangles! I thought that increasing the Face Angle Threshold might help, but it didn't. I first tried it at 80.0, then 150.00, but the model is still being split into the triangles! The picture below is at 150.00 Face Angle Threshold:

Now, I thought this may be because of errors in the mesh. I was only applying the modifier as a test when I noticed these errors, and I hadn't run a STL Check in a while. I did so. Unfortunately, I have had a problem with this check in the past; sometimes the checker displays errors, sometimes it doesn't. If I select all of the polygons, the checker usually finds errors. This time, however it brought up over 4000 errors with nothing selected. After playing around with the mesh for a while (I didn't change anything) I clicked on the checker again and it displayed No Errors. I selected all of the polygons and clicked on the checker again, and got over 4000 again. I think it's safe to say that my model has errors (although, at the moment, I can't work out what is causingt them). Could this be why the Unwrap UVW mod isn't working properly, or have I just set something wrong, perhaps?

Thanks a lot!

Nevermind! I fixed the problem. The mesh was full of errors and I found the cause of the problem. Everything's fine now. And I sincerely apologise for posting unecessarily!
