I always liked your texturing,lighting and shading jobs.You really know how to create good looking skin. Did you use the mental ray skin shader for this one?

One more question, do you paint your textures by hand or do you use photos mixed with painted maps (clone tool etc.)?

The only thing that I can think of, is the upper lip, it sort of hangs down towards the corners of the mouth. And like someone else said, the necklace distracts a little, maybe desaturate it a little.

hi !! this charcter is gorgious in every thing , modeling texturing lighting etc,
plz would you post a tutorial for detailed steps of its modeling as I'm interested in human modeling and did some of my own but not with this level of detail and it will be appreciated a lot.
Also I would like to know the best way to model with edge looping.

About the eys there's nothing special, skin is more reflective around the eyes maybe thats the key. I think this is also why th skin looks quite good : it is reflective, I reflects its environement which is a white backgroud plus one white big box (self-illuminated and its diffuse color is a pure white texture with its output multiplier set to 3).
I use the mental ray fast skin shader here. I've got 3 maps my diffuse color in the overall diffuse coloration slot, my specular map in the overall spec weight and in reflection weight, and my bump map plugged into the bump slot.
All the maps are hand painted I don't use clone tools or stuffs like that.
And indeed my website is http://re1v.free.fr but it's not really up to date :)

Only crit I have is that the shadows may be too dark for natural skin, cause it usually lets some light travel trough, thus making it near impossible for shadows as dark as that. but otherwise, impressive!

Really nice work! I think you've used the sss shader really well on this piece, and resisted the temptation to overdo the translucency like many people do, the result often looking more like wax or inflated plastic.

Reflective skin is also key to a good skin shader I believe. I was wondering if you would care to share your shader settings, and MR render settings? This is absolutely beautiful in every possible way. But i have one thing that i haven't seen anyone else mention. The upper lip seems to be flat at the bottom, when in reality the lips would be plump on both top and bottom. Don't get me wrong some ppl bearly even have lips, but she clearly has beautiful idealistic style lips, which should then be plump. Let me also say that if i just saw that on a poster walking by i would never have noticed, but artists critique for perfection.

Here is waht I did as I was waiting for the contest results ;). At the beginning It was just a face made to test 3dsmax SSS but I finally chose to complete it and tryed to make a beautiful face. I've used 3dsmax and a slight color balance. Hairs are polys hairs and the scene is lit by 1 area light plus 1 blue back light. I've used mental ray render with final gather. Hop you'll like it.

° Je trouve que le collier flotte un peu sur le corp de la jeune femme ou je me trompe ?
° Pour la texture de la peau attention à ne pas trop mettre de 'bump' sinon elle aura une peau d'orange ;)
° Les petites plumes sont vraiment nécessaire ? sur le fond blanc en background elles sont nikel mais sur l'avant du visage je trouve que tu ne devrais pas les mettres.
° rendre les sourcils plus fins au niveau de l'épaisseur des poils.
