Okie doke! So I quickly learned that unless I have a full blown setting, metallic reflections do nothing than give a dull shine.

Soo..... for all of you guys who make your metal look spiffy... Do you have or know of any good environment maps for metal?

....Anyone???:surprised

he he he he... If there's only one out there, I'll be pretty happy with that!

Here's one I snipped from the Postforum a while back:

"Here's a tip I got from David Farmer [a/k/a Darf] that works great.

Put some VL Noise in the luminance channel, check "use as environment" from the same 3D noise dialog. Scale the VL nosie up quite a bit as needed. Set the standard luminance control to 0%, and then use the brightness slider that is controlling the VL noise to set the over amount of luminance.

In addition to that I usually have the reflection brightness set to 100% but the color set to black. I use a very narrow specular 1-5% and a very high specular brightness 500-1000% or more.

Sometimes I use the specular color channel too.

These tips usually get me some pretty cool looking chrome, especially if there's some motion going on (camera or object)
