Can anyone please help me?

I am trying to batch render 500 frames using the standard software renderer but as soon as i press "batch render" i get an error message saying

Error: Cannot find an available port

I am running maya 6.5 and windows xp service pack 2.

I have also turned off the auto frirewall that windows has built into it and it still won't work.

Just incase this might have any relevance i've got a usb external cable modem.

Hope you can help as I really need this stuff rendered asap.

Cheers

Karl

hmm...yeah sounds like network issue. Try saving your scene then going to command prompt (cmd) navigate to your file and type render -s 1 -e 500 sceneName.mb see if that works.

Sounds like its a problem with service pack 2. From what I have heard is that the Windows firewall that comes in SP2 blocks out a lot of ports and has some real issues with networking. Try turning off Windows firewall and mabey it will resolve your problem.

Karl,

I get the same effect. Turning off my XP firewall did not help. However, I can batch render via command line rendering.

If you find out what inhibits you from starting a batch render while in the app, please post your discovery.
