There are so many sites that feature Lightwave Plugins and LScripts. But sifting through them to determine which are actually beneficial versus "cool" is time consuming and sometimes counter productive. And there are so many neat and productive plugins that get posted here and disappear so fast its hard to keep up sometimes.

Well Im interested in finding out what other wavers feel are their "just cant live with out" plugs or lscripts. So if there are some plugins/lscripts that you just couldnt live with out please share :)

Thanks!

I'll start it off :)

1. Unreal Celshader ( Surfacing )
2. Rope Editor (http://www.next4d.com/)
3. Polygon Coloring (http://www.artssphere.com/lwplugins.php)
4. ACS4 (http://acs.polas.net/acs/)
5. Obj Exporter (http://www.mimicanimations.com/portfolio/lscripts/OBJ_Exporter.lsc)

Haven't you forgot THE almighty Steve Worley...???

It's not that I forgot about certain plugin's....I mean would forget FPRIME etc. My point is more of a "useful / noteworthy" inquiry. There are tons of plugins and scripts of which I dont expect people to list, because we have sites like FLAY for that.

Im just interested in what "You" :) find very useful or cant live without. Because just maybe if it's useful to you...it might be useful to me as well.

on top of the great plugins listed, I use a lot of Pictrix plugins in my modeling.

http://www.pictrix.jp/lw/index2.html

Many of them are so specialized that they are hard to remember to use, but the poly and point to tube plugins are super useful to me.

http://www.pictrix.jp/lw/tube/index.html

another plus is that most if not all are lscripts, so they work cross platform.

Fprime (10x more useful than any plug...I never light or surface without it. In some most cases these days, it's my renderer)

HD_Instance (when not using fprime)

FI's weight mapBlur (should be built into modleler)

Maestro (kicks ACS4 in the buttocks)

FPrime, for surfacing, lighting, tuning, rendering. Absolutely essential in every project.
Sasquatch for grass.
HD Instance really helped in several projects.

For modeling, I tend to switch around. I used Modo for one project, but I mostly stay in LW modeler and Silo. I don't usually use plugins in modeling though.

FI's weight mapBlur (should be built into modleler)

Yeah FI's weight mapBlur is a must have !!
Eki's Mod pak is cool too
also TB's Edge bevel shader is a big time saver

I don't have FPrime but It seem to be the "must have" plugin, do you consider FPrime superior to the Lightwave internal renderer?

Kid Mesh: Here's the link to the Unreal plugin. link (http://d-creation.sakura.ne.jp/index2.htm) :)

As for myself, I don't really rely much on plugins (with the expections being Unreal and UV Imaginator for my UV maps).

note. some of these are mine, but I can't be blamed for listing them. I wouldn't have thrown them together if I didn't need them to begin with...;)

[free]
copy motion
disable_all_mdds (now that i think of it, this one isn't online. maybe it should be. hmm)
load_save_camera
make_ortho_camera
quickdissolve
FI's Wrinkle
NoisyChannel
Exclude_Include_Lights

[not quite free]
fprime (though i don't always render with it since i use the farm at work)
idof (as t4d said, you can't be suprised that i put this ;) )
t4d's rigging tools

disable_all_mdds-jeremyhardin !!

Ok that sounds like if i have 8 characters in a scene with cloth on them
I can turn OFF all that in one press and then just work on a say a table cloth sim or something and LW only will Cal the Table cloth ??

would i be right in this ?
and if So CAN YOU SEND IT TO ME Please :D

That sounds very useful to me right now I've been working on scenes with many characters all rigged up cloth sim SO if you hit the cal button at any time
LW tries to do the lot at once !! SO you simply can't do extra cloth objects in the scenes unless you pull the scene apart and pull it back to together :banghead:

idof (as t4d said, you can't be suprised that i put this ;) )

hey the plugins you write yourself are always going to be the most used
And everyone out there's lucky we release them :D
( many artist Don't release they personal plugins, there in business and it's understandable )

One of my favorits is c-plane (http://www.flay.com/GetDetail.cfm?ID=1535) (construction plane). I placed it to the buttom edge menus along with the Symm_X_Tools (http://www.flay.com/GetDetail.cfm?ID=1740).

Well, it parses the scene and writes out a new scene file with all plugins still present, but disabled. So then you do the work you need to do and run the other script. it parses the scene and enables all the plugins that are disabled.

Not the most ideal workflow, but we had hundreds of MDD driven items in the scene (converted from maya), and it was impossible to even scrub the timeline. And besides that, that's the only way for lscript to access such things.

So I'll email them to you and probably post them on my site within a couple of days.
