Hello everyone,

Right now I am producing a short animation (siege like style) and I would like to ask anyone who may be able to compose a short piece of music (about 1 minute 30 seconds, not necessarily longer) I would like it to be a fast pace like piece, with beating drums and violins at the back. *I don't understand a thing in this area but i tried!:D*.:bounce:

I hope this is the right place to post this in. Pls I hope someone offers!

Thanks,
3dEffects

I think that this page (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=define%3ACompositing) and this page (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=define%3AComposing) might help you in your quest for music...

i think you might have got compositing and composing mixed up mate, compositing has nothing to do with music, you'd be better off posting else where

well its certainly an odd place to post it! And why 'request for compositors please!' You dont need a compositor you need a composer!

This just leads me to think out loud... you know, it's harder to explain our jobs than I thought it'd be. Most people don't know what a visual effects artist (which IS different from special effects), then when they ask you if you've met a certain movie star you have to explain "in the post," then there's the different positions (3D modeler, texturer, animator, roto, compositor, TD, matte painter, match mover, etc...). Oh well, it just gives me more reason to talk about my awesome job :)

I feel your pain. When someone asks me about my job, I usually start off with, "I'd love to tell you but I don't want to bore you to death." If they persist, it usually leads to something along the lines of, "You know the T.rex in Jurassic Park?" Almost everyone knows that one...

That leads to, "Well sometimes it wasn't there. It was computer animation over live footage. I teach people how to put that animation over live footage to make them look like they were filmed together."

That's enough to turn most people off. If they're still interested, I can get into the whole pipeline of the system for them then and talk about elements and plates and passes and shaders and lighting and integration and match moving (in no particular order there :) ).

It's a tough thing to explain, isn't it? :D

If i were you, im presuming there would be little or no fee involved, I would try your local university or college that do music courses

I saw your post and thought I'd give it a go. Your lucky you caught me in a musical mood. I'm not a composer really, just an amateur at this so it's got some oddities I spose. Anyway, here's a sample of what I've done so far. Let me know if this is something you could use and I'll flesh it out to 1:30.
