This is more or less a finished work, but, I feel it does not meet the standards of the finished 3D still board, so I am posting it here. You are free to critique (in fact, i strongly request you do), as i am still able to change the file. Please, before critiquing, keep in mind that the program I am using, anim8or (www.anim8or.com (http://www.anim8or.com/)), is a constantly developing freeware program, and does not yet support refractions (could be used for the raindrops), reflections (could be used for more convincing metal), radiosity, GI, or any other form of raytracing except for shadows. I made the scene for a poem I wrote, which i put onto the image, for a story book effect. The water color filter was done in photoshop, and the DOF was done in arcsoft photoimpression. The scene is of a destroyed robot, laying abandoned in the sand, with a rose to honor his memory, and no one to fix him.

i never heared about that program you was using. for me the image is much to abstract i never had seen a robot if you hadnt mentioned it. Perhaps it comes from a too stronge use of photoshop for post effects.

no, it's not photoshop. it's the model. looks almost the same without the filter, except it doesnt look like watercolor. If you've never heard of anim8or, i suggest you check it out, it's not very powerful, but definetly worth a look (and free :D ). But back to the render, what do u think i should do to give him a more robotic look?

Hehe, this looks familiar. When I saw the title, I thought of this picture, but didn't expect to actually see it when I entered. We need to get more Anim8or work in here! http://cgtalk.com/images/smilies/buttrock.gif

Anyway, with the picture, I think it would be a bit more recognizable as a robot's head if you replaced the rectangular holes that you have for eyes with something a bit more detailed. You could keep the rectangular shape, but maybe have lenses in the holes or something. It would also look pretty cool if you had a few more roses in his clenched hand in the background, though it may take the focus off of the rose laying across his head. I dunno, I'm sure others will have better ideas than I will. Let's keep the Anim8or stuff coming. http://cgtalk.com/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif
