Hi.
I have a little problem with MAX 5.0: I open a MAX 4.2 project (a character with bones and point controls) and it looks ok, but if I try to move an hand control point in the user viewport, the change is veeery slooooow!
The arm bend slowly and I can't control the deformation correctly!
I'm using OpenGL for viewport rendering, like in MAX 4.2 and same machine:

Athlon XP 1700
1Gb RAM DDR
Abit GeForce 3 Titanium 128Mb

Ok, hope someone can help me.

More information about my problem.

It happen also in wireframe mode, the deformation is slow.
I tried to save the envelopes, delete the skin mod (done in MAX 4.2), re-assign it to the mesh and load the saved envelopes.... same problem! I don't know, someone can tell me if MAX 5 is really so slow with the skin mod applied?
Help me please!

Are you using a look-at controller in your rig? I know that M. Comet changed his Charrigger script recently because of max5's poor performance with look-at controllers (I'm fairly sure it was look-at, but my memory can be a bit shady ;( ).

You could rip in a quick rig with the new version of charrigger and just use the default envelops to see how quickly it deforms... That might tell you if it's something else in your rig. Otherwise you might want to talk to someone who does rigging for a living...

Try Micheal on his forum at http://www.comet-cartoons.com/toons/

Or post in the animation section of Discreet's forum http://support.discreet.com/webboard/wbpx.dll/%7Emax to get Paul Neale's attention.
