Hi guys, i posted this post in After Effects thread, but toally forgot about the 'Compostitng and Visual Effects' POst, sorry all.. anyways wonder if anyone could help me?

Bluescrren - Right, we've set up a blue screen filmed it got it into Adobe Premiere and/or After Effects, applied the blue screen filter, all works fine, blue screen gone. Now if i understand correctly, bluescreen is a way of makeing the background transparent, this being alpha right? Now if this is the question, how on earth do you save the video out so that the background (bluescreen) stays an alpha channel? Ive tried exporting out as Tiffs and Targa's nothing seems to be working. When you view the Alpha channel on the Montior window, everything looks fine, but when i import to After Effects, it doesnt work.
What i want to do is import the footage into Maya with the alpha channel embeded in it, so the blue screen would not be there.
I hope this makes sense.
Many thanks

Hi!

Sorry if my comment is lame, but have You tried (on TGA files) interpret footage option in AfterFX (premultiplied or unmated)?
You should export TGA's from AE as 32bit.
Not quite sure what exactly You wanna do, but hope this will help a bit...

I used the tga a lot when importing frames from maya or 3ds.... But how would this work for video and/or with no blue screen?

iest_rob,

the way you explain it is quiet confusing. View on monitor window ? Premiere or After Effects? I get it like you view ur blurscreen result in premiere monitor window and only when you save out the files and import in AE, you don't get the transparancy. Is that right ? Please clarify more before i try to give further help.
