View Full Version : short film: Lift it

06-28-2005, 08:16 PM

this is my latest spare time animation work. Its a short film named Lift it and took about 2 months to get finished (mostly weekends and loooong nights).

The main character tries to lift this really heavy barbell. But someone's gonna disturb him. Will he manage to lift it? And how?

Thanks to my brother Martin for the music.
Thanks to Arne for technical and creative input.

Everything done in Maya, rendered with MentalRay.

Comments and Critiques always appreciated.
Hope you enjoy it!

Nice work! Good job maintaining the feeling of weight, not easy over that much time.

Facial expressions are wonderful. They are very well animated and designed. Thanks for sharing this one.

The only thing I can say is that sometimes weight feeling is lost. character may be streched and squashed as well. And at first attempt, if iron bar bends a little, we'll read it better.

great work of rendering and walk animation.

Good work on the animation, though the part where he lifted the weights over his head should show some sensation of extreme weight being lifted up rather than lifting it up fast. Other than that, thumbs up for the short!

I liked it. Some nice facial expressions. The fart was funny and not too crude. Nice texture on the weights.

Is that Shrek with pink skin?

lol Mic_Ma,

a friend of mine also mentioned something like that when he saw the film. But I did not have shrek in mind once during the work on it. Its a coincidence.
