Arete Entertainment make plugins like:
Psyclone, Psunami. (for - Maya/softimage/lightwave/ie universe/after effects)

I recently contacted Areté Entertainment plugin makers to find out whether: (Message clipped below)

> Can you please tell me whether there are any plans to make your product suite available to Cinema 4D users.
If so then when?
If not then why not?

There response was as follows:

>Thank you for your interest in Digital NatureTools. At this time we do not have plans to develop DNT for Cinema 4D. However, we do work with 3rd party developers. If you know of a developer who would be interested in developing DNT for Cinema 4D please have them contact us.

Well I unfortunately don't know of any off hand....but I'm sure the wealth of knowledge on this forum or any other forum do. So if you're an commercial 3rd party developer and would like the opportunity to work on something like that.....then nows your chance.

flingster--try posting this on the postforum as well:

www.postforum.com

A lot of us here are usually there-- and there seems to be a lot of tech guys over there too.

Of course, click on the c4d forums once your there.

It sounds like they're saying someone needs to write a bridge plugin to import DNT effects. In that case I wonder if Maxon would be interested, since they wrote the bridge plugin for S&H. Seems like they could work out a similar arrangement.

JoelD: Thanks for this....didn't realise that was the case. I'm not a member at Postforum....any chance you can post it for me over there? Yeah I know I should make an account over there....but 1) thought it was quite technical on there last time i looked and my c4d understanding is pretty basic at present...2) I'm having all on just checking out this forum. Man if I could just get more hours into a day....

AdamT: If this is the case then this could really be a winner for the c4d community if Maxon were willing to take the time. I just emailed them to make sure they think about what they're missing! When I got that response I thought it was well worth mentioning to see if one of the more experienced developers took the challenge.

I can see you and joeld post on postforum whats the difference between that forum and this...cos a number cgtalk people seem to also be on there also? I would really appreciate it if one of you would post this there for me if possible....might carry a bit more weight from a forum regular? If not let me know and i suppose i will have to join up....kicking and screaming....damn you need more time in a day.
thanks again

I'd say the main difference between this and the Postforum is that Postforum is older and has a much larger readership. But more and more people are frequenting both places....

In terms of tone/mood, this forum seems to be a little friendlier and more supportive.

You know you can post anonymously at Postforum? You don't have to log in. In that case I think most people prefer it if you identify yourself somehow in the body of the message--just something like ... "Thx, -Flingster"

Thanks again guys....I didn't realise you could post anonymously...usually forums don't allow it.

I have slapped it up there so its out there for all 2 see. Now I'm just gonna hope someone takes it up...cos they make some very nice stuff. Mentioned you both in my post so I hope you don't mind. AdamT i included a footer/signature so it wasn't entirely anonymous...also picked up a nice link on there from joeld to a plugin called mess i'm gonna try tonight if i get chance.

Thanks again.

No problem quoting me. It's not just for Mac users. In fact, you can count on a 40-60 post platform war thread about every 2-3 weeks. :surprised
