View Full Version : HELP!!! Error Accessing File!
soccerrprp 06-27-2005, 03:47 PM Hi gang!
I am once again in need of help! I've recently spent a couple of hours working on a pillsbury doughboy model and now I am unable to access the file. I get the following message as it tries to load:
Error:Access violoation at 0x00620C69 (tried to read from 0x00000008), program terminated.
How do I solve this problem? Or is there a solution? The file size is 36MB+ as well??!! I have no idea why?
I would hate to start over!
Thank you!
Richard

That's basically computer's way to tell 'I dunno what causes the crash'
Did you get crash or other problems when saving the model? Have you tried restarting computer and then re-open the file? Sometimes memory-related problems fix with restart (or is that just superstition?). Does the scene file use plugins?
Can you upload the scene somewhere so that others may try to open it?

Open a new empty scene and merge in the stuff from the bad file.
That usually works.

Hilt,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I did have some memory probs while trying to save as I was working on the model. I think that I may have performed a few too many subdivides while working on it. I tried restarting, etc. No luck.
I'm currently uploading to a site called rapidshare. (http://rapidshare.de)
I'm trying to figure out how to get a direct link to the file.
Be back in a bit.

Here is the link to the file:
http://rapidshare.de/files/2637248/pillsbury_doughboy.c4d.html
It's 36MB in size. If anyone can open it, please modify it as desired to reduce the size. Like i said earlier, i think i subdived a few times too many on the scarf and scarf knot.
I hope someone is willing to help on this! THANK YOU!
Richard

Hey JamesMK,
Tried the merging and got the same message.
This sucks!

Hi,
i tried the file and it seems to be seriously garbled and completely unusable.
I was able to load it but only a Hypernurbs with two children without any geometry
came in, as well as two materials.
Sorry

Bjorn,
Thanks. This really sucks. Any idea why you are able to open it and I am not? Even if it is garbled, do you think that I will be able to salvage something?
I'm using a PC, 1GB RAM, tons of HD memory and Pentium IV. v. 8.5 c4d.
Thanks again. It looks like it's time to move on to another project.

Sorry, i fear the file is beyond ressurection.
Cheers
Björn
the scene gave instant 'out of memory' to me. I havent seen that notice many times on my machine. My wild guess is 500'000+ polys.
Sorry for the tough luck.

Thanks guys!
I'm moving on. 3-hours of work down the drain. This'll teach me.

This'll teach me.
It's a nasty way to learn, but very effective :D The trick is to save incremental files, just add a number to the end of the filename each time you "save as"
I still have a 5 * 5 cm paper sticking on my screen with "op tijd saven e maatje" (meaning : save on time).
A friend pasted it on the screen after he saw C4D crashing time after time (early v9 bugs).
Power supply for my LaCie went dead so cant access to my archives, but there's free plug that does incremental saving with a click of a button. Whatsitsnameagain?

IncSave! You can find it here (http://www.c4dplugs.com/viewPlug.php?RECORD_KEY%28PluginsRec%29=ID&ID%28PluginsRec%29=309&PHPSESSID=fe6a172bc249b05df64ed354de0b342c). Works in R9 just fine. Wonderful at preventing acute heart attacks and strokes:wise::D
