View Full Version : Quicktime and the Divx codec
Quicktime wants to play all my AVI file downloads (for some reason, I can't get Netscape to use anything else for AVIs with QT installed... no idea why).
But, it doesn't want to recognize the Divx codec, which I have installed.
Anyone know either, how to replace QT for AVI with Netscape or get it to recognize DIVX?

The quictime options there is something about default file types. Be sure to uncheck avi, and it should then launch the media player. I dont think it is possible to get quicktime to play divx avi files.

At least on a Mac, you can add he DiVX codec to the Quicktime player and it works. I'm not sure if that's different on Windows.
I'm guessing, but it may be that the Windows Media Player and the Quicktime Player keep their codecs in separate folders, and each may not see the other's codecs.
Thanks you guys! I managed to get Winamp to play my AVI media.
