the ears are a bit wierd, the facial topology is generally Ok, of course you can fix the forehead, and the at the sides of the mouth and jawline.
Hard to tell from this angle, but the nose might be a bit wierd too, could we get some other angles?

Good start for your second attempt

a better angle i hope.
working the ears, tweaking mouth & jaw area.
unsmoothed is 650poly, so there's room for more detail.

Hmm, I'd say that your first attempt is a lot better topology-wise. You should study some good head topologies from the modelling forum to see how others approach structuring those areas.

Regarding the shape/proportions, I cant really comment too much as I don't know what you're aiming for, although looks a bit strange in my opinion.

To point out a few troubling topology areas:
- the tip of the nose looks a bit wierd, is that the base (unsmoothed) control cage you posted? if so, then it has a lot of unnecessary detail, otherwise please post the unsmoothed one, as its a bit hard to tell how your edges flow in that area.
- the jawline and the area the neck starts from might need some reworking
- the ear is very undetailed, but i understand it is an early wip.
- the area around the eye is looking quite good to me.

I think you should go back to the base cage and work out the shapes a bit better first, then start to rework your edge-flow and build on from that.

Good luck :P

thanks for the comments Scorpion, i've posted a couple more screen shots, low&high poly.
i'll appreciate if you could repost them marking the problem areas.

well judging from the reference, the nose shape is completely incorrect, yours is far too pointy, the ref's goes out more in the center, like if broken. It also makes your nose look a bit sharp and pinched, caused by too many edges close together.

Here's a quick paintover i did to state some problem areas i found:

You might want to also smooth out areas of the mesh, such as the forehead, and rework the topology in some trouble areas. The lips are a bit off too.

lol. Nice shader though, did you render that in wings? (toxic or something?)
