Don't know if it was overlooked here or I missed it but there's a great enhancement to max5 unwrap tool:

Align - U/V/UV
Relax
Dump (to bitmap)
Index rotate (shuffles just the indexes of the selected faces - useful for when cutting and pasting faces with different windings)
hide/show
freeze/unfreeze
grow uv sel/shrink uv sel
centre point snap
numerical offset
clear unused verts
