Hey, this is my first post. I am partway through my 3rd semster working with softimage xsi, so I'm relatively new at this. I would appreciate some honest crits. This is my first attempt at a realistic render using hdr image lighting.

The guitar lacks antialiasing on the blurred (DOF) part. Also, the part near the camere (I don't know the name) it's too clean and that blue color is not very realistic (is too much saturated). With that color would be better to use some reflections, as it seems a reflective material. The environment is also a little poor, and the shadows are fake, too "GI"ish but the amp and the blurred guitar are great. Very realistic.

regards!

Well, that depends. If it's a new guitar, then yes, there would be some slight reflections, (used to play, so I would know). If it has been slightly used, then no.

I agree with slime on the DOF portion though. There is definitley some AA there that detracts from the image as a whole.

Nice work though.

It's a little blurry. The depth of field needs a little work. All your work on the nice detailing is getting lost in the bluuryness.

Other then that very nice feel

Hey

I think you gave a nice effort on this, looks pretty cool. The think the radius on a Les Paul is 11 or 12 inches which is pretty flat for a fingerboard, but yours might be a tad too flat. I think the Nut could be beefed up a little too. Of course I agree with one of the other guys, I would like to see a different angle. This pose sort of reminds me of a Gretch ad I have seen, none the less I see where you were going with the angle you choose. It puts the Gibson logo in the right spot, which shows your intent. Anyhow, I like your zen- like harmony, putting a Gibson guitar with a Fender amp, there is balence in the universe after all.

Good job with the depth and the blurring, guitars must be a popular first post, because this is like the third one I have seen with a guitar and an amp. Good Job.
