Is there any online resource so as to find code in C++ for transforming any 2D image to pen-and-ink style? Thanks

hey, if its a matter of converting images rendered out from a 3d image i can probably give you a few pointers, i did a c++/c sketch render working alongside maya and prman last year for my masters in bournemouth, but if its just on any flat 2d image as you said then i would advise you to have a look at laplace and sobel filters, google will give you plenty on this. sobel is fairly easy to implement bu there is not a lot you can do beside get the edges based on the color gradient using this method

cheers

It is onlu a matter of transforming a 2D flat image into a pen-and-ink illustration. I know that with Sobel filters I cannot produce a satisfactory result, that's why I am looking for something that could help me. For example, in which level user interactivity will improve the output or how will I handle the orientation of the strokes? It seems that you have experience on the subject (instead of me) and I would appreciate any advice. Thanks again!

Here are some papers that deal with stroke/edge orientation calculations that you might wanna have a look at:
