yay first game art challenge and I have no ideas! This'll be a party. Just saving my seat till something hits me I suppose.

Here's my crate atm. The game will be some sort of 3d person puzzle shooter where the hero is some little insectoid robot.

First Render. Got the basic shapes in. I'm in at like half the poly budget though. So it's detail time.... I need to leave myself a while to do the uvw business, cause I'm not very good at it. Oh well, it'll be good practice.

Hmmm... I've got it all tri'd out just to double check the poly count and it's still like 548. So I've got plenty of more details too add... not sure how I want to do the smoke yet, a single 2d plane may not be up to snuff... consider this I will whilst I up detail the thing. I need to rig it too.

Here's the wires atm.

Ok I stopped adding details cause nothing was adding anything to the model... I might add a beveled edge around the top at the end but that can be pushed back some. I'd rather spend my time making sure the rigging works out and that I get a good diffuse and bump map made, which I'd sooner use to fake the details anyway. Plus I'd like to see a neat animated texture on the smoke which will also need rigging more than I would a bunch of extraneous detail on the main crate thing.

Not sure why the wire came out so weird... *shrug* I'll get a better render once I get the rigging to work.

This is the result of my quick rig up. Shows how the crate acts once it hits the ground. Perhaps a more complex animation at a later date...
