I pursue my search for morphology, it is a mixture of style. I tried to be realistic at the same moment and stylized. It is has to say,for instance the jaw is squared to strengthen its charisma.

Thanks for advices

very amazonsoul style-like. Very good character, strong in emotion. Maybe right side of the arch of the eye-brows looks a bit funny. But that's a small detail totally hidden by the outstanding work.
You kick serious a...here. Keep going. People here are probably dying for an update.
Standing ovation mate.

Thanks for all your comments! :applause:
I use max5 To create this character.Max is one of the best soft i found to do this kind of modeling. To me,Maya isn't intuitive enough. :thumbsdow
Chepe297,he's not really a pilot, think about mad max.
Liquidhalf, indeed,he has a sort of bandage on the nose.I like your critik,to me,the design is more important than the tecknik.

Fantastic work here!! No crits. Such a beautiful details. Did you make a concept for this character too or "only" modelling?

P.S. Are you using just new poly tools in max 5 or installed Meshtools scripts too? I am using max4 and I m curious how good the new tools in max5 are!

Thanks in advance.

By the way, post more images man! Or some links to your work...

Like everybody else WOW!

My crits now I think the corner of the eyes are a bit to edgy(outter part of the eye) need to be more round or soften a bit. And the little piece of forehead that we see creates a wierd shadow.

For the rest
Keep it up! Can't wait to see him finish with the body!

erilaz
10-22-2002, 12:39 PM
Hmmm....

Wonderful. Simply wonderful. The facial strutucre is highly impressive.

I'm not certain about the eyepatch however. It appears to have less form than the rest of the model, mainly around the inner depression.

And that, my friend, is being close-up, full-on, excruciatingly picky. There really is no flaw with this model. Now make a body.:D

really like the work...just wondering how long it took you to model this? and did you use reference material? is it purely a modelling excerise or are you going to texture, animate him? hope these aint to many questions for you to ansewer!

Awesome dude :buttrock:
can you show the unsmoothed wireframe?

liquidhalf
10-22-2002, 07:54 PM
He has very strong features, which I like.... however something about the sharpness of the transition between his lower lip and chin seems to much. could just be the overhead lighting. Maybe smooth is out just ever so slightly. I know I'm just being picky, but that's what we all should be doing right? Post some closer pics of the eyes and Jaw where it goes under the helmet. more more more.

thanks for congratulation!! :applause:

hum...overflowed,if my work remain you Amazonsoul,is because René morel influence me a lot.To work with him is unbelievable. This is a homework,in order to pratice on the way of making characters interesting. This is not a concept.hum,i try the new tools of max5,like edit poly,it's very intuitive.Nowadays,max5 is better than maya in modelling with polygons(and others things)! :buttrock: but I start this character under max4 with meshtools,It is widely sufficient to do good things!
Sez,your critic is interesant,i think your all right.I'll try to change it later.
akewt,i use no map for the characters.I just make different shaders,to make the skin look like skin, and clothes look like clothes. That's all.
It took me approximately 7 days to find the design and find the right expression i would give to him
for now,i don't know if i will make something else with this character, maybe the texture but for the animation see you next year!I can't do close up 'cause it mean to increase the iteration of smooth in that case all the details will be erase. Before start the modeling i ought to anticipate this kind of view!
If you want to see unsmoothed wireframe, you can go on my "female face"post,it's approximatly the same mesh. :airguitar
Liquidhalf, imagine to smooth this transition...then i think that the character will have less strong feature, don't you think so?It's a important elements of his face(maybe you allright).i will post some picts later
see ya

What the hell is your technique in Maya, man? I would LOVE to be able to model poly that well!! How do you layer things like the strap over the head to follow the cap? Please could you post a sequence showng your step-by-step instead of the finished models?

WAAH! I wanna learn!!

He has used 3ds Max for these models, not Maya ;)

stuzzi
12-18-2002, 07:29 PM
Indeed,i use max4 for this mod.I could use Maya, but max is more intuitive for me.Sure, poeple could be disagree with my opinion.
i'm happy rebeldreams, that you appreciate my work :) .How can i layer things..?I don't know what to say..hum :hmm: maybe, the capacity to be precised by moving points. I don't have increment files enough to show you something instructive. :thumbsdow
