This is my first ever model without the use of a tutorial! I'm extremly happy with how it turned out.

Anyways, Heres what I have so far. I'm going to try to slap that fatty into a Farm environment in a little bit.

yey first model! It will need some major tweaking for more realistic look and a nice scene, but what do you think of the work in progress?

Good for a first. I'd like to see the mesh (do you use HNURBS).

For tweaking, definitely look at the skeleton and musculature (and body fat?) for a pig to get closer external form. Most mammalian quadripeds have a common form.

The head is really good and I love the little piggy curly tail. :)

Thanks for the comments :)

Yes I did use HNurbs for this one, heres some shots of the box and nurbs boxes.

It may not be a clean model for all I know its terrible, but its my first and thats How I went about it :)

what Kuroyume0161 said + donŽt rush it! Do yourself a favor and spend another half hour to tweak yor model. ItŽll pay off in the end. The legs and toes need some love (tweaking) -> you took the easy way out on them ;) Overall a good beginning, but patience is the key in 3D.....

DidnŽt see your mesh pics......... as it is a first IŽll withhold any comments and give you one word to search and google for: Edgeloops. YouŽll need to know about them if you intend to model for animation later on.
Cheers

yep, Edge loops, edge loops, .... You need to have a clean, continuous mesh; I can see from your screen shot that you have some Ngons in the mesh, which is a no-no for organic forms ( or at least is ot be avoided where possible) - there should be some nice loops going around the belly area...
Good start though, I would advice to not worry about making an image for now, with sky, background etc... Concentrate first on the modelling!

Yeh I would definetly Like to refine this model alot before putting it back into the scene. Any good tutorials or explinations of what Edge Loops are? This model wont be animated so is this still important? Thanks for your comments I will update tommarow some time.

I've been working with Cinema 4d for about 2-3 months now, but have never really pursed the modeling aspect until now. Thanks for the link ThirdEye

COOOOL another pig :bounce:

only just found a wire the head of mine atm (albeit a very cartoon pig ), but it may give you some help with the wire, it at least deforms very well

Yes, loops are important even if you are not animating, when you are modelling organic geometries ( and good to understand for modelling in general) -
Btw, do a search for Bay Raitt as well, one of the masters of the modelling art ( ... gollum for ex..., a lot of good stuff in teh days of mirai as well...), he's credited for the edge loop concept.

Thats one mean looking Pig, flyingp I really like it. Very cartoonish. I'm going to be making some updates to my oinker later today so hopefully it will start to look more and more realistic.

Thanks for comments!

Sorry to be bumpin my little simple piggy to the top thread but I never used the Sketch toon plugin before, and Wow its really amazing! You could make a flippin cartoon using this plugin!

I made a 3d fly around of the pig in sketch n toon last night because I was bored, just so u can see the dimensions, its pretty neat. Boy would I like to create a cartoon but this thing would be a drag to put bones in i suspect.

Hi magnumstar,
looking better, the legs are too stubby somehow though - and too straight tapered.
Keep going !
