Hi guys, im kind of new to the maya package, iīve looked around for a GI render plugin or something for maya but havenīt found anything, iīm not asking for much, only a cheap and fast GI renderer thatīs pretty easy to learn, hopefully integrated with the maya interface if possible. =)

thx in advance! =)

By far the biggest news in the Maya community in recent memory is that the Mental Ray renderer is now free. Download it at aliaswavefront.com.

sure i saw that too, but when they release it it will cost a whole lot of money, and i dont wanna shelve out with that much, isnīt there anything else out there? cheaper? i remember the 3dsmax release and it was just too much for a renderer....well thats what i think anyway! =) i really liked brazil rs for max, easy to use and really fast....will brazil be released for maya as well?

how much cheaper is there then free?? Just wondering?

From www.aliaswavefront.com :

http://www.aliaswavefront.com/en/products/maya/mentalray.shtml :

mental ray for Maya 1.5 will be included as Maya's standard rendering tool when this product is released.

But if you really want something cheaper then that then im assuming you arent paying for maya anyway ;) ;)

oki, thx for the info, then its worth the buy, i was really affraid i would have to shelve out with $XXXX for a GI renderer for maya...if its an all include then itīs well worth the buy! =)

thx guys! =)
