When skinning a character, should mesh smooth be above or below "skin" on the heiarchy pannel? It deforms much nicer with mesh smooth above skin but is this the incorrect way of doing this? Should the model be made with the propper cuts so that it can deform properly without the meshsmooth there to help it?

1. Above. If below, you will have more weighting to do, without gaining much.

2. No. IMHO there is no incorrect way. There are only faster/easier ways, right?

3. Yes. Good topology is needed to get good deformation.
