Hi all,

Im starting out on modeling a car and im already stuck on the fender. Can anyone give me suggestions on how they would go about it? my biggest problem is where the flare annd the rest of the fender meet. I tried to poly edge extrude the the flare first, then built the back part of the fender but when i get to the front lower part where the bumper begins it gets really tricky. usually my flare starts pinching when i join it with the bumper in Sub D mode. Im using Maya.

On max, I would use a boolean. I'm pretty sure Maya has something similar. Good luck!

Hi,

Yes max does have boolean. Intersection, division and one other. I can recall right now. what parts would you boolean with?

Thanks for replying. Its really appreciated

The part around the wheel looks to be a truncated cone, the rest I would do extruding the profile (along a path if you wish), then adjusting the mesh for the wedgy bit, perhaps. I'm not a prime modeler, but it seems like the most obvious way to do it.

you could create a sphere, deleting most of its faces until you have the small piece of the tirehole, then extruding it sideways to the left and scaling it ?
