hiya all!
i'm considered a noob, mostly since the last time i used maya was 3-4 years ago and i kinda forgot everything, in need for those tutorials again. since then been working on max projects.
anyways, my wip involves a really good sikorsky model w/ textures n all, which i'm trying to import from max, w/ very little luck. http://cgtalk.com/images/smilies/shrug.gif

have any of u guys used max model before?
which format is recommended for use?
do u know if there are any exporters out there from max to these formats? (max sux at it i guess) - sorry if this is the wrong place for that question...

it would be a shame not to use that model, starting from scratch will take months....

thanks for any reply! http://cgtalk.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

i've had someone export in obj format from max before which worked fine, though it was an untextured model - so not sure what happens to uv's. Not sure either if the exporter is built in or you need to download it.
apart from that i've only ever gone from maya to max with fbx, which worked after a few failed attempts. google for 'fbx kaydara' if you want to try that.

maybe fbx stands for "Fail Before Xferring" hehe :D
