Hi,

Ok, I know this has something to do with volumetric lights, but I just can't seem to pull it off, I want light beams shining through the trees in daylight, does anyone know how to get this effect as my efforts look silly.

I am using Vue D'esprit 4

Thanks
Jon

In the past I've used a volumetric spot light, with a light gel to enhance the beam effect.

Hi,

I am trying that now, but I just can't get the beam to go through the leaves, there is quite thick cover but there are gaps, but the light is not penetrating those bits.

Try putting the light in amongst the branches, turn off the lens flare, and adjust power and spread to get the effect.

Altenatively, adjust your scene to allow the light through.

Heres a quick one done in Vue 4.22.

9 trees
1 volumetric spot, caustic ray gel applied, strength 695, light twice as high as trees in this case.

Also use multiple lights, all at similar angles to the main sunlight, throughout the scene to simulate the light breaking through.

Hi, This is ridiculous, I still can't get it right. I must be doing something wrong.

Is there anyway you could post that file so I could examine it, or you can PM me for my email and mail it.

Thanks
Jon
