Hi .. hate to post a Q that is sooo stupid... but can anyone tell me how to scale / rot / trans a selection in Painter (rasterized of course ) ? For the life of me I cannot get it to do it.. I know must be so obvious ... so I'm also wondering if it also may be some sort of refresh problem with my Vid card? ( nvidia 5900fx). I create a selection, select the selection adjust tool.. drag on the corner squares to scale... and F#*kall happens.. I'm guessing doing a simple transf like this is no different than it is in PS?
any help welcome (spare the part where you tell me I'm an idiot) :scream:

thanks Skips

Glossary for this response:

Selection = "marching ants"

Selection content = imagery within the selection

Since I'm not sure which you want to transform, selection or selection content, and you don't say what Painter version you're using, I'll assume it's Painter IX and tell you where to find the information in Painter IX Help > Help Topics.

To learn how to transform selections, read the following:

Painter IX Help > Help Topics > Contents tab > Selections

On the right panel, click the link named "Editing Selections".

On the next page, first read the two paragraphs under the section heading at the top of the page, "Editing Selections". If your selection is not path based, remember that you'll need to use Select > Transform Selection first in order to make the bounding box handles appear when you click inside the selection using the Selection Adjuster tool. Then scroll down and read the section named "Editing Path-Based Selections Only". (It wouldn't hurt to read the entire page.)

To learn how to rotate, scale, distort, flip horizontal, or flip vertical a selection's imagery and free-transform Reference Layers read the following:

Painter IX Help > Help Topics > Contents tab > Image Effects

On the right panel, click the link named "Using Orientation Effects".

Read the entire next page.

right on jinbrown, thanks! A little less intuitive than PS (no preview before commit?), but same result I guess ;)
